In October 2011, Google introduced the encryption of search queries from logged in users and every person concerned with SEO started to talk about being “not provided.” Estimations from Google said that less than 10% of data will be affected. But is it really just 10%?

Since we manage over 200 sites, we know that the “not provided” percentage has been increasing every month. This is especially true if you look at Google Tops for main keywords in highly-competitive niches. It’s more than Google had originally estimated and our Marketing Team at Devellar decided to make a prediction for 2013 by focusing on monitored trends since October 18th, 2011.

This year I got the chance to visit SMX (Search Marketing Expo), a well-known conference among marketing geeks that takes place several times a year in different places. The latest one was in Israel on Jan 6^th, which is where I went to warm up during the harsh winter.

The German online publication Optimize or Die featured an article about Devellar’s recent project PlagSpotter and its applicability in the online community. The article featured Kyiv-based Devellar employees Iryna Stepanenko, Yaroslav Baklan, Laura-May Zvolinka, Oleksiy Synelnychenko, Svitlana Khymka, and Timur Akhmadov.

The article emphasized PlagSpotter’s improvements as well as its improved feature plans. Among these is PlagSpotter’s future goal of optimizing both its layout and duplicate content-checking functions. Additionally, PlagSpotter has made it their personal mission to take user feedback about new features and to make them available on the website in the future. Among these is a future batch search function.

One of our new upstart websites PlagSpotter has just received the coveted first place in Search Engine Journal’s list of 2012’s Top SEO Startups. This list comprises the top startup websites of 2012 that Search Engine Journal predicts will expand and become more popular in the next year.
